InnoMedia Launches ICE™ International Calling for Enterprises at unprecedented value announces strategic partnership with DataOne and ECS Computers to help enterprises save up to 80%* on IDD calls
Singapore, 1st June 2000 - InnoMedia™ Pte Ltd, a leading global provider of Internet telephony solutions and a pioneer of Internet telephony, today unveiled a new service, ICE™ - International Calling for Enterprises. The service, which is the first by a net telco, is being launched first in Singapore. InnoMedia will roll out the service and the ICE brand name in other regional countries.
ICE is part of a series of premium international calling plans targeted at the enterprise market. The initial service options hold special appeal for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The service allows enterprises to make international calls at a flat rate throughout the day regardless of the timing of the call or the destination. ICE is also the first to offer a simple flat rate of just 32 Singapore cents (or about 19 US cents) a minute to 24 major countries, providing potential savings of as much as 80%* on regular IDD rates.
Mr Ng Kai Wa, CEO and co-founder of InnoMedia said, "InnoMedia is setting the pace for a whole new regime in telecommunications service pricing. The borderless Internet will enable net telcos like ourselves to offer a uniform low rate for IDD calls from anywhere in the world. In the future, making IDD calls can be as easy and affordable as domestic calls."
InnoMedia will be introducing two initial flexible options for enterprises; ICE through Net and ICE through calling cards. ICE through Net is powered by InnoMedia's state-of-the-art Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology utilising the Internet Access (Leased or ISDN line) for voice communication that integrates seamlessly into existing phone networks. Charges are based on usage and are post paid. ICE through calling cards allows customers to call overseas destinations from a fixed, public or mobile phone on a prepaid or postpaid model.
"We believe in providing the best value and quality solutions to our customers and we are able to offer this through InnoSphere™, our global network for VoIP gateways. We are very excited about the rapid development of the VoIP industry," mr Ng added. "This is only the first of many value-added services that InnoMedia will be launching; our customers can look forward to solutions for fax, roaming, Browse and Talk, Web Call Centre, voice conferencing and even broadband multimedia video conferencing in the future."
InnoMedia also announced strategic partnerships with DataOne Asia Pte Ltd (D1) and ECS Computers (Asia) Pte Ltd. D1, the business Internet partner for SMEs, will provide high speed and high quality connectivity for ICE services as part of their comprehensive suite of Internet solutions and value-added services. ECS Computers, a leading IT products and solutions provider, will complement the distribution and channel marketing efforts for ICE services.
Mr Michael Low, COO of D1 said, "We are very excited about this partnership. D1 is always on the lookout for products and solutions that provide value-added services to small or medium enterprises to help them stay ahead of the competition. We will partner with the best technological partners to deliver our customers a wide selection of business solutions."
"ECS is honoured to be appointed as a partner of InnoMedia, a leader in IP telephony solution. The appointment marks a milestone in ECS's quest to strengthen its portfolio of technologically enabling products and solutions and reinforces our commitment to provide customers with integrated solutions. The explosive growth of the IP telephony market is a market ECS will capitalise on," said Mr Tay Eng Hoe, Managing Director of ECS.
About Voice-over-IP (VoIP)
In VoIP systems, analog voice signals are digitized and transmitted as a stream of packets over a digital data network. IP networks allow each packet to independently find the most efficient path to the intended destination, thereby best using network resources at any given instant. The packets associated with a single source may thus take many different paths to the destination in traversing the network, arriving with different end-to-end delays, arriving out of sequence, or possibly not arriving at all. At the destination, however, the packets are re-assembled and converted back into the original voice signal. VoIP technology insures proper reconstruction of the voice signals, compensating for echoes made audible due to the end-to-end delay, for jitter, and for dropped packets.
