Content Technologies Targets 200% Jump in Asia Pacific Revenue Next Year Growth to be fueled by market demand for content security solutions and phenomenal adoption of e-commerce
Singapore, 9th December 1999 - Content Technologies, the global leader in security and management of electronic content, today reiterated its confidence in the Asia Pacific region, by announcing an expected tripling of company revenue by the year 2000. This rapid growth is expected to be fueled by the increasing demand for the company's flagship MIMEsweeper products and the exponential growth of e-commerce.
Content Technologies created the business of electronic content security in 1995 with its MIMEsweeper products and now has more than 5,000 customers worldwide, with about 5 million users. Its customers include 13 of the world's 25 largest commercial banks and a significant percentage of the global 2000 companies. IDC estimates that the electronic content security market to be worth US$4 billion by the year 2003.
"We have been consistently doubling our revenue over the past four years and are confident that 2000 will see us achieve an even higher growth rate. Tripling our Asia Pacific revenue next year is an aggressive, yet realistic target for us," said Mr Alan Schaverien, Asia Pacific Managing director, Content Technologies.
According to Mr Schaverien, the MIMEsweeper family of products had four years of consecutive 100 per cent growth, making it one of the industry's fastest growing products. This success, coupled with the worldwide adoption of MIMEsweeper as the de facto standard for electronic content security, will drive the company's growth next year. The Asia Pacific market in particular, is beginning to recognise the business benefits of a policy-based electronic content security solution, creating additional opportunities for the company.
"The market is recognising the danger the Internet can pose to corporate success in recent times. Having a comprehensive content security policy in place is now critical for businesses where information passing through the network is highly confidential and valuable," said Mr Schaverien.
"Companies now realise that without a content security policy in place, they are vulnerable to financial and credibility losses," he added.
A Content Technologies study showed that companies are exposed to the following risks when there is a lack of a policy-based content security system :
- Loss of strategic commercial information
- Reduced operational effectiveness
- Confidentiality breaches
- Exposure to legal liability
- Lost productivity
- Damage to reputation through misuse of e-mail
- Infection from e-mail borne viruses
- Loss of network service from spam and spoof attacks
- Network congestion from system misuse
Mr Schaverien also sees a business opportunity in the midst of the Asia Pacific e-commerce boom, in line with the company's vision to move beyond protecting network and business content integrity, to managing content within e-commerce transactions.
According to a recent GartnerGroup report, e-commerce will have mostly triple-digit growth for Asia Pacific, with compounded annual growth in business-to-business e-commerce of between 100 and 220 per cent.
Said Mr Schaverien, "E-content is apparent in all e-transactions. We will ride on the e-commerce wave in this region, using our content solutions to make sure content within e-commerce transactions is managed securely and as business policy dictates. The effective harnessing of electronic content is a fundamental condition for the success and growth of e-business."
Channels Strategy and New Product Roll-Outs to Increase Growth
Content Technologies will focus on two key areas to help spearhead its business growth next year - channel partnerships and product rollouts.
The company aims to develop regional and local alliances that bring together vendors, integrators, security specialists and applications providers to roll out or integrate its MIMEsweeper products.
Content Technologies today announced the official appointment of three partners, ACA Pacific Technology, ECS, and Electec as its Premier Partners for the Singapore market.
Currently, Content Technologies is already in various global marketing and OEM agreements with leading security vendors such as IBM, CheckPoint, Sophos, Command Software, Thunderbyte and Data Fellows.
Content Technologies is also looking at introducing strategic MIMEsweeper products and plug-ins over the next 12 months to meet new market demands in various vertical industries. This includes a solution that can track pornographic content in an e-mail attachment.
MIMEsweeper is already the leading products used in various industries. In the UK, almost two thirds of the leading finance houses use MIMEsweeper.
The company is also a leading player in the financial sector in the Asia Pacific region. The new products are set to reinforce its market leadership position further.
