Sun Microsystems Professional Services (SUNPS) appoints ECS as Alliance Service Provider
SINGAPORE, 18 JUNE, 1999 -- Sun Microsystems Professional Services (SunPS), today appoints ECS as SunPS Alliance Service Provider (ASP).
The agreement was jointly signed by Mr Tay Eng Hoe, Managing Director of ECS and Mr Lionel Lim, Executive Managing Director of Sun Microsystems, Asia South, and witnessed by Mr Albert Lam, Regional Director of Sun Professional Services.
The two major initiatives of the appointment are to implement the Alliance Service Provider (ASP) programme and the Sun Exchange programme.
The main objective of the Alliance Service Provider (ASP) programme is to pursue short and long term business opportunities in the area of Professional Services. These opportunities are to be identified by both parties. Teaming with SunPS, ECS can build on Professional Services Skills to gain competitive advantage. Customers can also be assured of consistent high quality services that are backed by SunPS.
The Sun Exchange programme will provide comprehensive development programme and On-Job-Training for ECS staff; where ECS staff will be seconded to SunPS to work for a period of time to enhance their Professional Services skills. In exchange, SunPS will second a business manager acting as a business advisor to provide the necessary advises and processes to boost-start ECS's Professional Services business.

This new value added service shall further strengthen our existing core services such as Account Management, Project Management, Pre-Sales Consulting, Post-Sales Support Services and Training Services. Professional Services Group shall play a complementing role to our valued partners by offering solutions to customers," said Mr Tay Eng Hoe, Managing Director of ECS.
