The Sun Certified Network
Administrator (SCNA) certification is for system
administrators tasked with performing essential system
administration procedures on the Solaris Operating System (Solaris
OS) and technical application support staff responsible for
administering a networked server running on the Solaris OS.
This course is for experienced Sun
Solaris System Administrator with 3 or more years of experiences
administering Sun systems in a networked environment/working in a
network capacity. The course covered 25% on general concept of
computer networking and TCP/IP protocol. However, this course
concentrated on configuration, administration, and manangement of
Sun Solaris operating system networking and new features that are available on Solaris 10 OS.
Topics covered related to Solaris
operating system includes Routing on Solaris System : statics and
dynamic routing ; IPv6 on solaris systems ; interoperability with
ipv4 ; IP network Multipathing : a features that provide redundancy
and high availability to Solaris system ; DNS on solaris system ;
DHCP ; NTP ; Solaris IP Filter firewall
To note all the topics described for
SCNA are not covered in
the CISCO Networking course (CCNA)
where the latter course is focus on CISCO devices than Network
Operating System.
The Solaris Networking course therefore stands out by its own to
cover a lot of network stuff relating to Solaris OS that is not
covered by CCNA.
