The Oracle Sun Certified Solaris Associate Certification (CX-310-105)

Product Description

The Sun Certified Solaris Associate Certification exam is for candidates with a basic knowledge of Solaris. This exam is primarily for university students and Solaris beginners wishing to demonstrate competency in the ability to perform basic tasks in a Solaris environment or with specific applications. The test candidate will benefit from a general knowledge of basic Solaris commands in a Solaris environment, such as those covered in the SA-100-S10 courseware. This certification exam includes multiple-choice and scenario-based questions and requires knowledge of basic Solaris topics, including using basic Solaris commands to work with directories and files, creating and editing files, compressing, viewing and uncompressing files, managing permissions and ownership, configuring access control lists, searching directories and files, performing basic process control, working with advanced shell functionality, archiving file, and performing remote file transfers.

Oracle Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris 10 OS, Part I (CX-310-200) / SCSA Part 1

Product Description

The Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 OS Part I exam is for candidates with a minimum of six to twelve months experience as a system administrator. This exam presumes the test candidate has an in-depth knowledge of basic UNIX and Solaris OS commands, such as those commands covered in the SA-200-S10 courseware and that the test candidate has system administration expertise for SPARC, x64, and x86 based systems. The examination includes multiple-choice, scenario-based questions and drag-and-drop questions and requires extensive knowledge on Solaris OS administration topics, including how to manage file systems, install software, perform system boot and shutdown procedures, perform user and security administration, manage network printers and system processes, and perform system backups and restores. The examination is a prerequisite to the Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris10 OS, Part II exam. Test candidates must pass this exam before proceeding to the Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 OS Part II exam.

Oracle Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris 10 OS, Part II (CX-310-202) / SCSA Part 2

Product Description

The Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 Operating System, Part II exam is for candidates with one or more years of experience working as a system administrator. This certification exam tests that the candidate has an in-depth knowledge of advanced Solaris OS system administration skills, such as those covered in the SA-202-S10 courseware and that the test candidate has system administration expertise for SPARC, x64, and x86 based systems. The examination includes multiple-choice, scenario-based questions, drag- and-drop questions, and requires extensive knowledge of advanced Solaris OS administration topics including how to perform network basics, manage virtual file systems and core dumps, manage storage volumes, control access and configure system messaging, set up naming services, manage Solaris zones, and perform advanced installation procedures. The Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 OS Exam, Part I (310-200) is a prerequisite to this examination. This certification exam tests that the candidate has an in-depth knowledge of advanced Solaris OS system administration skills, such as those covered in the SA-202-S10 and WSB-204-S10 courseware.

Solaris Certification candidates must pass both part I and part II exams in order to obtain Solaris 10 certification.

Oracle Sun Certified System Administrator Upgrade Certification for Solaris 10 OS (CX-310-203)

 The Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 Operating System Upgrade Exam is geared toward those candidates with one or more years of experience in a Solaris Operating System. The Upgrade certification exam requires extensive knowledge of the Solaris 10 OS system administration features as covered in the SA-200-S10, SA-202-S10, and WSB-204-S10 courseware. And that the test candidate has system administration expertise for both SPARC, x64, and x86 based systems. The exam includes multiple-choice, scenario-based questions, drag-and-drop questions and requires extensive knowledge on new and advanced Solaris Administration topics. Including how to manage file systems, install software, perform system boot and shutdown procedures, perform user and security administration, use Service Management Facility, Solaris zones, and perform advanced installation procedures.

This exam is for candidates who have already successfully completed the Sun Certified System Administrator Exam, both Part I and Part II of a previous version of the Solaris OS (2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 7, 8, 9). Reseller exams are not applicable. Candidates who are not previously certified cannot take the upgrade exam. In addition, the test candidate's Solaris OS Certification must have been in the complete Solaris Certification track (that is, the student must have taken and passed the Solaris 7 OS System Administration I and the Solaris 7 OS System Administration II exam). Those test candidates with a "mix and match" certification do not qualify.

Product Description

The Sun Certified Network Administrator for the Solaris 10 Operating System exam is for candidates with three or more years of experience administering Sun systems in a networked environment/working in a network capacity. A test candidate must already be a Sun Certified System Administrator to qualify to take this examination. This certification exam tests the candidate has an in-depth knowledge of network administration skills, such as those covered in the SA-300-S10 courseware. The examination includes multiple-choice, scenario-based questions, drag-and-drop questions, and requires extensive knowledge on Solaris network administration topics including how to configure and manage the Network interface layer, the network (Internet and Transport layers), network applications, and the Solaris IP Filter.

Product Description

The Sun Certified Security Administrator for the Solaris 10 Operating System exam is for test candidates with extensive job-role experience administering security in a Solaris Operating System (Solaris 10 or OpenSolaris) environment. Sun Certification recommends that candidates attend the course: SC-301-S10: Personalizing Security on the Solaris 10 Operating System, and previous Solaris OS system and network administration certification is strongly recommended. This exam presumes the test candidate has an in-depth knowledge of UNIX and Solaris OS features. Product Description

The Sun Certified System Administrator for Sun Cluster 3.2 Software exam is for system administrators who install, support and administer Sun Cluster 3.2. Sun Certification recommends that test candidates attend the course ES-345: Sun Cluster 3.2 Administration and have a minimum of 6-12 months of Sun Cluster installation and administration experience, basic network administration and ability to perform Volume Management using both Solaris Volume Manager softwware (SVM) and VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM). The exam includes scenario-based multiple-choice questions and drag-and-drop questions requiring knowledge of Sun Cluster 3.2 topics including: Sun Cluster hardware and software product features, software framework planning and installation, cluster administration, as well as performing, installing, and configuring volume management and applications.
